It Is The Veteran

May 28, 2012

Freedom Has A Price

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.

On this Memorial Day, our nation does honor those Veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice in their service to our country.

Memorial Day was first observed in 1868 as Decoration Day, when the families of Civil War victims honored their war dead by decorating their graves. Over time, the holiday became known as Memorial Day.

On this Memorial Day, I also urge you to take this opportunity to honor all of our service members, veterans, and their families for their service and sacrifices for our freedoms and our nation… America.

Enjoy, Honor and Celebrate,

Carlos, Donna and Austin

What wonderful words to read to start the day.

Thank you so much for sharing Carlos; and I just ADORE the owl flying with American Flag background; so wonderful!

And thanks to our Freedoms we were all able to gather via the internet; share about Molly and McGee and their clutches 1, 2 and three; and so much more!

From all over the world we came together in peace, joy and harmony.

THANK YOU VETERANS for this and all that you have done and continue to do.

It is fun; and we are all a part of it :)

Carlos…you might want to go look at Charles Michael Province’s website as far as who wrote the poem “It’s The Soldier”. You just changed the word “Soldier” to “Veteran”. So you really can’t take credit for writing that poem.

Just a note on a little discovery that I made: I had some coupons for Mp3 downloads on Amazon.com, and checked to see if Barbara Allen had her songs listed….she does!! Got 4 songs by her, and managed to avoid iTunes again!
