Dear Carlos,   It has been just over a year since I first learned of Adam Brown and the legacy he wanted to pass down to his children–the legacy of what it means to be committed, faithful, and courageous. Since then, I’ve had the rare privilege to talk with Adam’s teammates and family, and to see for myself the power of Adam’s last wishes.

It’s my honor to have the opportunity to share Adam’s story in a new book-FEARLESS: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown. The book goes on sale today. If you’ve pre-ordered, I greatly appreciate it; your book should arrive shortly.  If you have not, I invite you to share in this remarkable man’s biography which provides a respectul, yet revealing glimpse inside the brotherhood of SEAL Team SIX. The book is available wherever books are sold.   Thank you for your support,

Eric Blehm

Reviews

“I have read this book and it is great. Don’t think of it as a war story but the story of a young man’s life. His trials, his tribulations and his love for family and country.”  Carlos Royal

“As a rule, we don’t endorse books or movies or anything regarding the command where I work, and Adam Brown worked, but as the author writes in FEARLESS, ‘you have to know the rules, so you know when to bend or break them.’ This is one of those times. Read this book. Period. It succeeds where all the other others have failed.”   – Anonymous SEAL Team SIX Operator    See More Reviews…

Kudos for Eric. The baby doves, squabs, are darling & really getting big. Carlos & Donna–I bet you are sore, but now you can look out and enjoy the results of your labor. The caption for the Kestrel is perfect.

Hoping to get Erics book as soon as I can afford to. Right now every dollar counts around here since my husband has been working off and on since Feb 2009. I Love our Military, being a Navy Brat and look forward to reading about Seal Team 6. We used to know someone on a seal team and what a fantastic, energetic person he was! The Seals are unbelievable & do some of the most dangerous duties there are.

I loved the caption under the picture Direct TV. Made me chuckle

  6. Jo-Ann Says:

    Dear Carlos,
Just love Donna’s dove pictures – my they grow fast! I hope you are both resting your bones and backs in your beautiful yard and taking it easy. Eric’s book is due to arrive tomorrow and I’m looking forward to reading it.
    Love to you, Holly Sue

  10. Breezy Says:

    Hi Carlos!
As always, I appreciate the updates and photos of the Royal’s world. Having just bought a new home, I commiserate with all of the yard and house work that has to be done, but the end result is always worth the aching bones. You and Donna have such a beautiful home — I hope you are chilling for a few days and enjoying them.
My niece is a Chief Petty officer in the Navy and spent some time in Germany training with the Seals. She can’t say enough about their skills and devotion to our country’s freedoms. I’ll be ordering Eric’s new book today. How wonderful that you found him when you were writing the Molly book, as we MODs may never have heard of him.
I adore the photos of the baby doves — they are such lovely birds and the caption under the Kestrel picture is hilarious!
All the best to you and your family,
    Breezy~

    May 23, 2011 – Photography Imitates Art
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2011/05/23/photography-imitates-art/

Some may remember that Carlos took a photo of Calvin or Caleigh and found a painting just like it! Well, in this post from last year, Carlos shows another instance of his photo of “Great Wings” justaposed against another illustration, with the descriptive caption, “Photography Imitates Art – Insert is from Barn Owls Illustrated by Bert Kitchen”.

The next photo is entitled, “Happy to See You”, If one could take a photo to capture the MODs’ emotions, our would be just the same, since we are also happy to see these moments from the Third Clutch!

I love all the captions: “I’m getting really good at this”; “Tearing up the roof”; “Pouncing practice”; “Sticks in hand”; “I told you to stop ripping up the roof and practice on the rose arbor”; “You have your side, I have mine”; “You are coming in to fast”; “I hope I make it to a Large Framed Print”; “Don’t Leave Me Now” – all showing how clever and fun-loving Carlos can be, while he also notices that the owl box roof is being shredded more and more with the Third Clutch flying, landing, pouncing, and hunting practice! Eleven elegant photo-treats captured by Carlos, and one close up of talons, and shared joyfully with us!

“Smile, life is too short to frown.” – ending quote, Carlos Royal

May 24, 2011 – Live From The Hunting Fields Tonight
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2011/05/24/live-from-the-hunting-fields-tonight/

This post from last year starts off majestically with “McGee The Hunter by Chris Adams”, one of the beloved illustrations from the true story of Molly the Owl written so carefully by Eric Blehm. I will always remember how Carlos said a tear of joy came to his eyes when he held that wonderful book in his hands for the first time, as chills ran up and down his spine!

“Wowza!”, some exclaimed, as fans read these words from Carlos, “We are going to try something completely new and different tonight. Austin and I are going to be broadcasting live from the hunting grounds of these owls.”

The fun began again – on a new day, on a new night, in unexpected ways! And, it was so much fun, with lots of learning and tales to tell one year later! For now, the anticipation can remain for those new to Molly’s Blog!

    May 25, 2011 – Field Trip Tonight 7:45 PST
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/field-trip-tonight-745-pst/

Pssst – it is not this year! PST is Pacific Standard Time or what we now call Molly Time!

Eight carry-home treats at the Owl Box from the hunting grounds are shared in close-up photographs by Carlos Royal for our viewing pleasure – well, one treat is on the ground out of sight, with the last photo caption being, “He dropped it and it is down there”. Oh, that look!

Last year, taking this one day at a time, Ustream Owl Box watchers went out hunting with Carlos and Austin for a look at Molly and McGee’s Third Clutch owlets hunting in the fields nearby. Carlos and Austin were willing to keep trying until they achieved their imagined end result. The blog report begins with, “We will be taking another field trip tonight to the hunting ground and see if we can’t improve our camera work. As my grandpa used to say, “Maybe the fishing will be better tonight.” Yes, we fished at night, for catfish.”

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!” is a quote popularized by Hickson in the mid-1800’s. Many attribute this lesson to the tale of Robert The Bruce, who, while resting in a cave and deciding whether to surrender to a battle, spied a spider persistently rebuilding a web who finally succeeded before his eyes, thus inspiring him to try again and eventually win the battle.

Glowz and Glimmerz, our very own Owl Box spiders would say, “No matter how many times Carlos took out his feather duster to sweep our webz away, nor how many times McGee’s Fling and Fly disrupted our weaving, that did not discourage us, we just went to work with our eye on collecting our own treats and building our own home within the home, for ourselves and our little ones.” Glowz, now also famous, has her own charm on the Molly the Owl books site, as well as her own mug and t-shirts, etc. at Cafe Press! Glimmerz is like McGee, always getting second billing!

Thank you Carlos and Eric for the link to the television spot about “Fearless” and the story of Adam Brown – I just had time to look at it – well worth the time! Eric Blehm is a passionate writer who can capture the passions of others so vividly in his writing.
