Thank you for keeping us updated on sales!

Another thing I learned from The Owl Box of San Marcos, California, was about the existence of this amazing company called “Cafe Press”! Somehow I thought it was a European thing, being a “cafe” and all. I just looked it up to find out more and saw that is probably celebrating its 12th anniversary and was started and is headquartered in California!

I had never heard of Cafe Press before Molly & McGee! What a great and versatile company that allows for individual creativity to come to life! You wish it, design it, and they can print it!

    November 13, 2010 – Molly and McGee

Molly and McGee are the first things you see when you click on this link! A great photo followed by another, and then two singular photos of Roark, the red-shouldered hawk, and his mate.

Carlos begins with, “Molly and McGee are still hanging around at night, but so far no signs of mating, only a lot of sleeping. It appears they are going to take a break like someone else I know.” He thens gives updates on Roark and his mate, Callie the kestrel, CafePress howliday sales, Austin’s first documentary DVD (a must-have!), and Barbara Allen’s then new CD! And … he brings his announcements to a rousing finish with news of a new free download!

Aren’t we a lucky bunch! So much to be greatly grateful for during these days of remembrance and Thanksgiving!

    November 13, 2010 – Live with Carlos (9:33 am)

This Owl Box Ustream archived recording is about a half hour of all kinds of great information presented by Carlos at KOWL and includes memorabilia, music and memories! I certainly plan to watch it today!

There are also two other recordings – called Autorecord

Note: just after the time marker of 19:00 on the video Carlos shares a recording of a red-shouldered hawk perched on top of the kestrel box – it gives a sense of proportion to just how big this hawk is! An archived recording within an archived recording – lol.

Poetry Time with Zorro on VacaChat – New Feature

In addition to Story Time with Zorro on Sundays – group writing anyone can join at 3:00 pm and live reading by Zorro during the VacaChat show 6:00 pm PST – John “VacaDude” Atkinson has added a new feature on his Thursday evening Ustream show. This past Sunday a poem by one of our beloved chatters, code name “elsalynda” was read by Zorro. She gave me permission to share her poem here, and you can also hear it read by that handsome mouse, Zorro, on archived recordings.

    Nurture April, 2010

    Rain-patter on owlbox roof.
    Owlets safe under her wing.

    Hook-beak tugs at prey,
    turns tender, patient,
    places morsels into mouths.

    Razor-talons curl inward
    as she stands, takes off.

    Chicks, draped over
    the last warm egg,
    await her return.

Elsalynda, I did not put your full name, but you and your fans know whoooo you are!

If you have a short Owl Box poem you would like VacaDude, ahem Zorro,, to read, email it to him – no promises, but he just might give it to our talented mouse to read!

Oh … and on November 11, 2010, another memorable day in Owl Box History, John “VacaDude” Atkinson started a blog in conjunction with his VacaDude show – educational and fun!

John created this blog for MODs and VacaFans and describes its goal in the “About” section with the following introductory remarks:

Quote – “I am an artist who loves nature, loves science, and cannot imagine one without the other. I like to look for the humor in everything, because I firmly believe that laughter is the anesthesia by which we endure the operation of life. This blog will serve as my stream-of-consciousness chronicling of life on this wonderful and goofy planet.”

VacaDude continues, “Just remember: I’m not being silly. It’s the world that is silly. I’m just being observant.” (end)

An Owl Box Lesson which Carlos emphasized and continues to remind us about, is that of “being observant” and learning from what you see in “the moment”! As far as the being silly part, well sometimes he and Zorro are just silly and we have so much fun being silly together in a G-rated atmosphere of “Gee this is fun, and we are a part of it!”

      Thank you one and all!
