    What great news!

Seeing the photo of Wesley for the cover of the iTunes single made me think of the day Wesley was hatched (it looks like March 28, 2010). This video recording in the Ustream Owl Box Archives has over 20,000 views, and at least 40 people took the time to rate it – 5 stars! Carlos comments near the end of this video, on audio, that, “I finally got to see one! And it is recorded.”, meaning that this was the first hatch he witnessed live. Sign in and you can rate the Ustream recordings as well.

Is anyone having trouble with opening e-mails from Molly’s blog? I get the e-mail, but there’s nothing in the content when I open it. Anyone else having an issue?

  3. GeniaKnitz Says:

I’m not having any problems, flukestail, except that I miss my Molly.

    September 30, 2010 – 21 Days To Go
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2010/09/30/21-days-to-go/

The first photo is entitled “Molly Has A Mouse” -you can see the concentration on her face as she comes in for a landing to deliver this tasty treat to the hungry owlets. Several moderators shared links in chat last year from YouTube showing studies done by scientists on barn owl flight to improve aeronautical designs. Fascinating.

A series of more wonderful photos by Carlos Royal, including some of the mister and bluebirds are found here.

    September 30, 2010 – Symptoms of M.O.D. Free
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2010/09/30/symptoms-of-m-o-d-free/

If you are a MOD and feeling the “empty nest syndrome” and would like a little pick-me-up, I suggest downloading or at least opening and reading this free pdf – laughter, lightness, and long-lasting memories await (maybe a few teary eyes)! I would also reommend that you save this file on your computer or on a memory stick, as well as all the other free Owl Box “goodies” since one day they will no longer be there and you might regret that you did not keep them. You can save them on your own computer in “My Documents” – Creating a special folder for just Owl Box pdf files, which the program Adobe Reader (also free) will open, makes it easier to find later.

All free “Instant Downloads” are found on the official Molly the Owl Cafe Press site at the top. Right now you will see a perfect dozen choices, although some have more than one thing to download, such as the word puzzles (and solutions!). I hear rumors that soon the dozen may have been blessed by a baker (Google Baker’s Dozen if you don’t know what that implies!)

This may look like a repeat about the free pdf, but believe me, it is not! There are great photographs, including “Ashley Showing Off Wing Feathers” which show the luxurious new underside of her gowing wings. Ashley takes “Center Stage” and in one photo looks so grown up, while in another she is a big fuzz ball of downy delight! Carlos reports, “Carrie still has not stepped out of the box but tonight could be a different story as Carrie approaches 55 days. Normally, owlets will step out between day 55 and 60, so we are getting close to anytime now.”

Note: I am having trouble reading what I am typing, with “log in” boxes doing a typeaboutdance, while sign in boxes remain on top of what I am writing, like window shades that are stuck, so remember that “Typonese” is one of the accepted languages in The Owl Box! I am typing blindly but with Owl Box Faith – lol.

PegRod–Thanks again for being the “official” M&M historian. You continue to add to our M&M experience. It is all so wonderful to go back and reminisce. It is all so special.

    • PegRod Says:

Awww CAequuslvr – I cannot help myself, and Carlos lets me post the links – I am more of an Owl Box tour guide to links, than a historian – can’t remember much but I do know how to find information, thanks to Molly’s Blog, Ustream tv, VacaDude, Molly the Owl Books, “Google” and links! The Owl Box of San Marcos, California Experience, Molly & McGee and Family, and the community of humans involved, opened my eyes, lit an eternal flame and gave me a passion.

I was looking for that Einstein quote about not needing to remember things you can look up, but I could not find it! LOL. But, I found another good one that fits with The Owl Box philosophy. As MODs know, Carlos Royal has admired the ideas and works of Albert Einstein, and the “I”s of The Owl Box have it all – intuition, inspiration, imagination and more.

Quote from Albert Einstein – about 1931 – “I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.”

And the relationships between science and art have been studied by many, including Leonard Shlain (Art & Physics), a book pointed out to us by The Owl Box cartoonist, VacaDude, on his VacaChat Ustream tv show. A new exciting film by Leonard’s daughter, Tiffany Shlain, entitled “Connected” is being shown in selected theaters in the US with rave reviews. The Owl Box on Ustream tv on the internet is an example of how the people of the world can be connected in a very postive way!

October 3, 2010 – Final Day of Magic Feather Fine Art Print On Sale
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2010/10/03/final-day-of-magic-feather-fine-art-print-on-sale/

Half-a-dozen alternating photos of Molly and McGee show several close-up views. We love our Molly and McGee (hugs and hearts). Although the sale announced here is from last year, you can still get the Magic Feather prints as well as other items with this design.

Carlos has a brief but informative entry, “It was a foggy morning and Carrie decided not to come out of the box. Look for less food to bring them out of the box.” We learned that slowing down treats, delivery of them outside the box, or withholding treats completely inside the Owl Box, are some of the techniques that the owl parents use when they know it is time for the owlets to “branch” out.

All corrections to what I post are welcomed since I am no expert, just a lucky person who found out about The Owl Box and went along for the amazing ride!
