Virtual Hawaiian Luau 7 PM PDT

August 6, 2011

Hawaiian Luau

Entertainment is usually provided by friends with guitars and ukuleles and impromptu hulas abound so bring you own guitars and ukuleles. A grass skirt helps too. We will provide the virtual paper parasols and slices of pineapple for your drinks to get you into the tropical mood. All you need to join the fun is a good imagination.

If you’re available romantically, put a flower behind your right ear. If you’re taken put the flower closest to your heart, behind your left ear. Leave your shoes at the door.

Hawaiian Luau

The pig, sweet potatoes and laulau are placed in the imu and covered with more banana leaves and ti leaves. Usually several wet burlap bags top this to add steam and keep the heat in. A tarp is then placed over the whole affair and then the pit is covered with sand. After 6 to 8 hours of this steam-cooking, the kalua pig is ready.  We plan to also have a roast pig with a red delicious apple in it mouth. If you are not into pork there is always plenty of poi to eat.

Kalua Pig
Sweet potatoes
Luau or laulau
Lomi salmon
Tropical fruit- pineapple,
mango and papaya
Mai Tais to drink or Tropical Fruit Punch

Austin not only finshed his new movie but it has been shipped off to Arizona for duplication. Be one of the first to get The World’s Most Famous Barn Owls with Barbara Allen latest song “I’m Comin’

So we are celebrating the completion of Austin new DVD Movie.

See you tonight at 7 PM PDT for a luau good time.

Mahalo, Carlos and all my MOD friends! My last luau was over 20 years ago in Maui. I’ll bring sand chairs for all. I’m practicing my hula but the hips are not moving as fast as they were two decades ago; but I know all my MOD friends will be forgiving of my dance moves. :) Does Molly have her hula skirt ready? McGee will be pounding on his beautiful white chest as Molly does her moves! :) See you all as the sun sets in the Pacific and in San Marcos!

Becki – some people have found the following site useful, since there are tabs for different kinds of computers and electronic devices to explain how to take a screenshot. Once you start, it is so much fun, you might never stop!

August 8, 2010 – Second Egg Hatches as Molly Makes NBC Today Show

This was a very exciting week last year for Owl Box fans! A look at the blog reveals a photo with a caption which indicates that Molly was defending her box same time last year from another female barn owl who wanted to move in!

Carrie, the second owlet, had hatched and VacaDude drew a cute cartoon in honor of their shared birthday, with the owlet sporting her own little custom Owl Box Hawaiian shirt. There are only three shirts in the world; two of them are made with the real custom-designed and printed cotton fabric and both are individually tailored.

August 9, 2010 – Nation Goes on Molly Watch NBC Nightly News Tonight

You can find some of the links to last year’s news stories on Chris Adams’ website – our “rocketman”, Molly the Owl illustrator, creator of much of the marvelous Molly Memorabilia, and webmaster for many related sites.

A picture is worth a thousand words – and we are blessed with the wonderful photographs of Molly & McGee taken by Carlos and Donna Royal – unless you hear the words from Carlos Royal’s own magic voice on KOWL, or see the journalistic and poetic accounts in books by Eric Blehm, or hear the stories in serendipitous song by Barbara Allen, or in a funny, soulful or multifaceted caption and cartoon by John “VacaDude” Atkinson, or in a limerick or story by “DotRot” and from all the other creative people in Molly’s World … when is National Public Radio going to do a comprehensive story and when is the Smithsonian Institute going to start planning their Molly the Owl Exhibit!

Martin Luther King, Jr. might wonder if part of his dream has come alive right here in a brave and caring new world created via the internet, a world with rules, but also new freedoms.

  30. TByrd Says:

Well Carlos and the Royal family…it’s been a great ride. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and would like to wish Austin the best for his future. We also wish you the best in your future ventures whether they involve owls and other wildlife or exciting travels. Because of you and your family we were afforded the opportunity to go into a world we otherwise would never have gotten to see close up and personal. Goes to show one can still learn, even at my age, new and adventuresome things. You welcomed us into your lives and for that we are grateful.
