LIVE –Field Trip, Owls in Natural Environment Tonight

The Second Clutch

LIVE –Field Trip, See The Owls in Natural Environment

We will be doing another field trip tonight. We will start around 6:30 PDT. We don’t expect the action to start until around 7 or 7:30 PM PDT. Our plan is to set up under a large old sycamore tree at the far edge of the hunting grounds and focus the camera on the hollow section of the tree in hopes that the owls will show themselves. This will be viewing the owls in their natural environment. We plan to use an IR spotlight after dark so we will have the cameras on until at least 9:30 PM PDT.  If the owls show themselves this could be a very exciting field trip but with nature there are no guarantees.

Also, since we will be set up under the sycamore tree we will not be able to show you any other wildlife like the hawks or the egrets. We also don’t plan to do a lot of narration because we want be as quiet as possible and give the owls every opportunity to show themselves so you will be able to see them. The Gray Fox could show up but we have not seen him for several nights now.

My suggestion is to just kick back, relax and watch. Watching wildlife takes a lot of patience and the action always seems to happen just when you look away. That is just the way it works, so stay focused and wish us luck.

Please let your family and friends know they can see this Live Event -The Field Trip on Ustream.tv http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox . Like I said, this will be live nature so there are no guarantees but we think we have a good chance of showing you the barn owls in their natural hollowed out tree trunk home. You will be watching wild owls not trained owls or pet owls. You will be watching Nature brought to you by The Owl Box on Ustream.tv.

Time 6:30 PDT http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox

Chat & Social Stream will be on!

    June 24, 2010 – What’s New
    https://mollysbox.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/whats-new/

Well, what was new then, is still renewing! At that time, Carlos Royal and Eric Blehm had no idea that there would be a Second Clutch or that there would be so many more amazing photographs! The Second Clutch coffee table book is a must have, just as the first one is – so poetic and beautiful – and timeless.

Thank you for your hard work, your love, your art, your creations. Gifts that keep on giving.

“What’s New” is another surprise tonight from Carlos Royal and Austin Faure, with photography and video equipment, under the hollow in the trunk of the old Sycamore Tree in the dried creek bed in the Hunting Fields of San Marcos, California!

    Dear Carlos, Austin and Donna,
Wow! Another field trip – thank you so much for sharing this wonderful experience! I hope the owl pair will peek out again tonight – it was amazing to see them the other night. Enjoy and don’t forget your snacks and sweaters!
    Love to all, Holly Sue

I hope it’s ok to post a link, to an SPCA site where a small dog was dropped by a raptor that had picked it up…but that capture actually saved its life. http://tinyurl.com/5v4ht92.
I’m looking forward to seeing the owls in the wild, and think your new cam is wonderful. Maybe Austin will end up becoming a movie producer or wildlife documentarian?

  10. L. Long Says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally, I get to join in!!! Everything else kept interrupting my life with the owls. I can’t wait to watch. Really, really grateful that you are trying to catch them in their native habitat. Oh, and congratulations to Austin on his graduation. That’s quite a milestone, wish him the best, and you all must be quite proud.

Thank you Carlos Donna & Austin for the field trips.Your field trips make my day !!!. I can’t wait until it’s time for the field trips and I’m sure there are alot of other mods that feel the same way. Is there any way that you could make a post in the blog everyday to let us know if you will be having a field trip or not. We all love your field trips and knowing wether you will have a field trip would be really great, Every night I watch and wait between 8 and 10 wondering if there will be a field trip. Thanks again for the field trips and everything else you do for us. Rachel
