  38. Sherry Kelly Says:

Warm congratulations, Eric! I am so honored to have my book, A Cat Named Zooby, mentioned on the back of the paper cover of this award winning book. As I state on the cover, Molly The Owl is “Captivating! This book brings me back to the awe and wonder I felt while viewing the owl box.” Sherry Kelly, author of A Cat Named Zooby

  39. PegRod Says:

I echo the well-expressed comments above, including the feeling that many of us share, that this book is part of our Molly the Owl-awakened lives and we love it more than any words can express. I remember the live broadcast with the first time Carlos talked about holding this beautiful “true story” book in his hands and having chills run up and down his spine and tears come to his eyes – fans asked for and received something “golden” to hold in our hands.

Adults usually write children’s books, and adults read and enjoy them, too! This is a book for all ages and stages of enlightenment!

June 13, 2010 – See You Later Friends

MODs and Owl Box Watchers, who have been a part of this Owl Box experience for long enough, have a new inner strength and understand these words, ““Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
Seneca quotes (Roman philosopher, mid-1st century AD)

  41. sueconner Says:

This is such a happy day for all Molly watchers. We are part of Molly’s story because we were witnesses. Who can forget Molly and McGee being swept in with a storm, their amazing journey or our long, sleepless nights watching in front of our computer screens for events to unfold? Who can forget the friends we made in the Chatroom? Molly and McGee’s story will live on when we are all gone. She is immortalized in print. I cannot read the Molly book aloud to my students without tearing up. Molly and McGee have a special place in my heart. Long live Molly and McGee and their brood! What a wonderful story…and I was part of it.

    • PegRod Says:

Well said, sueconner (as I pull a kleenex out the box – sniff, sniff – while warmly smiling in my heart).

  42. Camperfamily (Kim) Says:

deet deet deet!!!! That’s Molly saying..there is more to come!
    Congrats to Austin!
    Congrats on the book!!

  43. donna Says:

Congrats to all, well deserved!!!! The owl box will always be number 1 and I’m proud to be part of it. Thanks to all of you!

  44. catsmommy Says:

Well Done! Well Dont! it’s a wonderful story with wonderful images.

Molly and McGee one in many millions…but the Ones for me…

Carlos and Eric Blehm Interviews are on The Owl Box Ustream Archives (search on Ustream for “carlosroyal” – outside box is under “donnaroyal”)

Molly the Owl Book – First Interview – Take 2

Have fun looking through all of the recordings – if you looked at one each day it would only take you a little over 3 years to watch them all!

    • PegRod Says:

PS – Interview is from April 24, 2010, as Carlos and Eric talked about the ebook version of Molly the Owl and showed some of Chris Adams’ original artwork in development stages. Eric Blehm’s son, Merrick, has his first cameo appearance near the end of this tape.

June 15, 2010 – Dudley is Still Missing

Ruthrings and Casey made “Dudley” out of round stones and glued feathers, strings, and wrote his name for a souvenir of the first Molly Watchers Walnut Grove Park meeting in San Marcos, CA!

And there is another great photo of Austin during that picnic!

Our beloved Dudley appears in cartoons from VacaDude, too.
To see the ful captions you need to go to his cartoon page, then click on the little image to open up the pdf version.

    Direct pdf links (without caption)

VacaDude has the Whole Family of Owl Box Characters from 2010 in one design. Here is the postcard, but there are many other things.

We Are Hatchin Out Owl Over is a great new drawing, too!

MODs are feeling the empty nests and hope and pray that this new cartoon comes to life! – especially since The Royal Owl Box has its own Mr. Mister Air Conditioning for comfort in the hot inland summer days of San Marcos, CA!

  49. PegRod Says:

Chat is Open at VacaChat on Ustream

By the way, if anyone wants to chat, VacaChat is open (self-moderated) – it may look like nobody is there, but if you type something and wait awhile people may show up, now that there are so many empty nests! The chat is usually about The Owl Box and related items, Molly & McGee and family, the book awards, the bluebirds, and usually food and computers! People come and go according to their schedules – flyabout here, flyabout there.

  50. joly2u Says:

Carlos, there’s a World Wildlife Fund photo contest through Friday which includes backyard nature photos. You could win a free polar bear viewing trip. Anyone who knows how to email Carlos, please send. Why am I the only one who doesn’t know how?

    • PegRod Says:

joly2u – this is how Carlos gets his emails – via the comments. He reads every one of them, too. Carlos explained in the blog entries about their trip to Canada that they do not always have internet access while on the road. He has explained that he reads these comments on Molly’s blog just like we read our email, in his inbox. At least, that is how I understand it ((hugs)).

  51. PegRod Says:

Today I had time to look around and just saw that the wild common barn owls named Roy and Dale at the Bonnie and Clyde Owl Box (former pair) have an egg! This is in Chula Vista, California, which is about 43 miles south of San Marcos, CA. The journey begins for this family of owls.

I know that the Royal Family is happy about all the owl boxes which provide homes for the wild common barn owls in areas where wildlife and humans can reside in harmony with a little help from “Owl Friends”.

  52. knittinghiker Says:

Can’t recall if I commented… Congratulations on this great award! It is a special book to all of us Molly watchers but to have it recognized at this level – how special!

  53. Diane Brodeen, Riverside, CA Says:

Greetings, Carlos, Donna, and Austin! Hope all is well with you, and you are enjoying a peaceful time, wherever you are. Many thanks for sharing your experiences. You and the owls are greatly missed. Hope you will check in sometimes with words and photos to let us all know how you are doing.

June 18, 2010 – Two VCR Tapes Played

This was the first time we got to see a photo of Donna’s “Kitchen Table” cleaned off and what it looked like before “Command Central” took over that part of the Royal Manor and Gardens.

In this blog entry, Carlos also talked about the “early VCR tapes” he found from February 9th and 13th before Austin and he put The Owl Box on UStream, and in June 2010 Carlos played and recorded these on Ustream for the Archives and to the delight of MODs and Molly Watchers.

Early Videos of Molly (Pre-Ustream) – Posted in June, 2010 but from February 2010 – I think these three cover it, but I’m not positive.

It might be interesting to compare these tapes with the new egg laying by female barn owl Dale, of Roy and Dale, in Chula Vista, Calfornia – Dale is eggspecting egg #2 any hour now! She and her mate, Roy, appear to be young and having their First Clutch. They moved into Bonnie and Clyde’s owl box, hence the Ustream channel name.

  55. Charlotte Zueck Says:

Congratulations on a well deserved award!
Hope you have a relaxing, fun filled day.

  56. mandozee Says:

What was written says it all, nothing more can I add. mandozee
