McGee Third Clutch

McGee Coming Out (Gee that was fun and I was part of it)

No Rest

I'm off

I think I will take a break

Where are you Calvin

Okay, I will eat without you

During the first two clutches we rarely ever saw McGee in the palm but speculated that was where he was hanging out. It seems for the third clutch that he is hanging out in plain sight. Shine a light on the palm tree and there he is, or at least that is where he has been the last few nights.

Caleigh, the female kestrel has decided to take her search for a mate to the next level and is broadcasting from Direct TV.

Enjoy your day,

Carlos, Donna and Austin

P.S. Today’s Sacramento Bee included a very favorable review of Eric Blehm’s “Molly the Owl: The True Story of a Common Barn Owl That Ends Up Being Not So Common After All.” Congratulations, Eric and Chris!

Thanks so much for these updates. They always brighten my day. I watch other barn owls, but Molly and McGee, along with their offspring, will always be the most special pair. I think it is because you–Carlos, Donna, and Austin–made the experience so wonderful. I love the books I bought and I share them with others. All this happiness because of two owls!!!

What incredible photos. McGee really is a regal and handsome owl. It’s like “coming home” every time we receive an e-mail with photos of your extended family (that you allowed to become our extended family). Miss the personal touch and informational broadcasts from the Royals — there’s no other site like yours. Hope you and Donna enjoy your travels and that Caleigh finds Calvin — you made me laugh. It was a year ago this month that I first read about you and Donna and your barn owls Molly & McMagee in the Union Tribune. You and your family have brought so many people such joy with your broadcast, photos, books, picnics and more. Thank you so much for continuing to share with us these beautiful creatures and their comings and goings in the Royal’s garden. I was wondering if Donna was going to be planting a spring vegetable garden this year or if your plans for traveling will not allow for tending it. Happy travels and good health. BJ

  27. Sharon McDowell Says:

Thank you for posting these pictures. Always wondering how Molly and McGee are doing.
This is a first for me making a comment. Just had to tell you how much it means to me and the rest of us to keep us informed.
    Have a great day…..

  28. Linda Smith Says:

It is hard to find words to express how very much the pictures of M&M mean to me. I have to admit I was heartsick when I heard there would be no cam viewing this year of the owls but certainly understood why! After all, you and Donna DO have a life outside of being tied to the cams 24/7 and you more than deserve some time away to enjoy trips.

Please know how much we all appreciate the pictures you continue to send and to keep us updated as to how all of the animals are doing there in your backyard. It truly means so very much to me to see these beautiful birds and to know that they are doing well. Even though there are other owl cams online, it is not like seeing M&M and hearing about them. They will always be our first loves :) I laughed when I saw the “Direct TV” broadcast, just too cute! Best to you and Donna! God bless.

  29. Christine from MA Says:

  51. Barbara Bostwick Says:

    Hi Carlos and Donna,
My what a beautiful owl that Max is! So good to see him back at the box waltzing out the door. Always enjoy your postings and your exceptional photography. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked through the coffee table book of First Clutch photos already. Truly a treasure! So happy I was a part of last year’s unique and record-breaking events.

Am really enjoying having owls back in my life with this year’s Syd and Mel clutch of 6 in Oceanside. Their personalities are quite different from Molly and Max’s so it’s another interesting and enjoyable experience. Kanga’s doing a great job too. See what you started? You could consider yourself the pioneer of exceptional owl box viewing. Thanks again. Enjoy your travels this year wherever they may take you.

    San Jose Barb

  52. Kim Gorman Says:
