Molly and McGee Expected Shortly After 5 PM PST

Western Kingbird in morning light

We are expecting Molly and McGee shortly after 5 PM PST. Last night most of the action was btween 5 PM and 9 PM PST. The outside infrared cameras will be up. The one on the owl box does not have sound but the one focused on the Kestrel box does. Usually, they land on the Kestrel box first then fly over to the owl box.

Chris wasn’t able to get the FREE DOWNLOAD posted today so we will try again tomorrow. That reminds me, tomorrow will be the last day of the PRE-HOWLIDAY SALE!

Do you think this may be a Cassin’s Kingbird? I heard them in your yard this a.m. You probably have Western Kingbird’s too.
Thanks so much for putting the cameras back on for a bit. It’s great to see all is well with Molly and McGee.

  2. Donna Simonson Says:

Oh, so loved seeing Molly and McGee last evening! Made my heart sing like a bird! :) Such peace comes over me when knowing our owls are at peace with the world around them as well as our Royal family. Thank you Carlos and Donna. I love the other bird pictures as well. I’ve got to catch up to the time difference, I’m not getting the wild bird seed out early enough now with fresh water in the bird baths. Your blog is helping me to remember better with the early arrivals in your yard both night and day. Take good care and give that grandson of yours about 20,000,000 hugs from all us MODS! I love my DVD Austin, I keep it in my laptop for a stress reliever, ever ready!
    Love, hugs and prayers “owlways”,

Carlos and Donna words can’t thank you enough what it means to watch the owl box again. How very giving of you to do that for us! My hubby and I also want to thank you Carlos for reminding us about the discount—we broke it into two orders–now with the money we saved we are going to get some of Eric’s stuff!!!Have a blast in Hawaii–you both deserve it. Again, thank you

  4. Mobirder Says:

Thanks so much for keeping the camera’s up…it is still interesting to watch Molly and McGee.
From what I saw, I think there was some “bonding” going on in the owl box.
Looking forward to pictures from Hawaii,,,,have a GREAT trip!!!

  5. sfsueny Says:

What a sweet treat to see our Molly and McGee…and I second the ‘bonding’ witnessing…definitely a bit o’bonding going on in the box.

Travel well and safely to Hawaii…one of my favorite places to photograph!

    Best to you!

Thanks for sharing an unexpected glimpse of our favourite pair of owls! What a nice surprise – and they came in “right on cue”!!

Hope you have a wonderful trip to Hawaii :-)

  8. Debbie Says:

Hi Carlos and Donna! It’s been great keeping up with your blog, and I’m enjoying seeing the Owl Box at night again. I missed last night’s shenanigans, but am watching right now at 6:00 in Southern Calif, and there’s an owl in the box looking out the door! I wonder if it’s Molly? So cool! It’s just so weird though watching without sound and without the Chat room because there’s an eerie silence to it all. Not complaining… just commenting on the difference. How fun it would be to see the chatters chatting it up about what’s happening now!

I hope we’ll be back in the early Spring for Clutch 3! I’ve been watching since last March and am definitely an Owlcaholic for life! Thanks so much again to you and Donna for sharing these beautiful owls with us, and have a great trip to Hawaii!

Oh, and I love all of your bird pics! Amazing!!

  18. GeniaKnitz Says:

Clock on OB1 has been frozen since 7:26, haven’t seen any motion at all; quite a few strange, very loud, mechanical type noises which I assume are coming from OB2. Very odd.

Loved watching from 5:28 until I had to go feed DH and cats; McGee was doing his Joe Cool impersonation. Really makes me laugh!

  19. OwlyKats Says:

    Carlos, Donna & Austin,
Congratulations On Your volunteer recognition from San Marcos! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for turning the cameras on. It is truely wonderful to see Molly & McGee again!!

Thank you so much for the cameras on OB1 and OB2.
It is like old times watching Molly and Mcgee in
    and around the owl box.

Looked like a little bonding (just for old times sake) went on this evening. Molly just had to get the worry warts talking again. LOL

Wishing you and Donna a safe and fun trip to Hawaii.

  21. Ann Bassett Says:

i would to be notified of up dates
    Thank You

  22. Mary Smith Says:

    Carlos, Donna and Austin,
Thank you Carlos and Donna for turning the camera back on so we could see Molly and McGee. I feel so at peace when I see them and to know they are still the wonderful wild birds and all is well in their world. Congratulations on your award I don’t know of anyone that is more deserving for all that you have done. And a special Congratulations to Austin for his Award for his project. I am so happy that he also won a award for his project. I watch his dvd often now, since the camera has been turned off. Hope that you and Donna have a wonderful Thanksgiving and some more vacation time in Hawaii with your grand daughter “Ashley”. Glad you told us about the ending to Ashley and Carrie’s fledging. All the owls want to come back to the owl box and take it over, but it looks like the owl box will always be Molly’s and McGee’s home and memories of the the 6 Owlets they raised when living in Carlos and Donna’s special owl box.

  23. Beth Jones Says:

Thanks for letting us see Molly and McGee again. Sometimes it’s difficult to “let go” of family.

  24. Susan Belloff Says:

I somehow missed Molly and McGee…was gone much of the weekend and didn’t realize the camera was up. Guess I better sign up for the blog updates. Thought I did so once before but I haven’t been getting them so I guess not.
Thanks for all the blog updates…Love to see your photos.
Have a great trip to Hawaii! Do barn owls live there?

  25. vicki Says:

Thank you Carlos and Donna for turning the cameras on again. Love the sights and sounds from the Royal backyard. What a treat it is to see Molly and McGee! From looking at the bird photos you post, I would say the sky over San Marcos has been much bluer than here in Illinois. I have many more birds visiting my feeders since it is getting cooler. The birds of summer–hummers, wrens, robins–have now been replaced by winter birds–juncos and purple finches. Have always loved watching the birds in my backyard. However, now, after The Owl Box, I look at them a little differently. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    Best wishes, Vicki from IL
