I left this comment on the post following this and then noticed this post and picture on your blog afterwards. I will leave this comment here also since it shows the view I am talking about.

Hello Carlos and Donna. A very knowledgeable photographer on our SPO chat, James, questioned if “Jupiter” on OB2 by the moon, was really Jupiter at all or just a reflection of light that the camera was picking up. I know you would just have the video to go off of the first night as you were asleep, but for the last two nights have you looked out your window and viewed Jupiter live? If so, you would have noticed if what was showing on OB2 was in fact Jupiter or a reflection of light. Please let me know if this has been a mistaken image so we can let the chat know the correct information. Thank you so much also for the opportunity to view the nest box and the friends that have been made because of that.

A few of us who watch on the SPO site saw a bright, large flash earlier (around 10:30-11:30 on 9/22, I think) but w/o the smaller light below–altho we just might not have noticed it. It occurred at regularly spaced intervals for several minutes than stopped. Since I don’t usually watch that late, I asked if a flash appeared when you took pix. Some responded that it could be neighbor’s car lights; however, it wasn’t a continuous light, and it seemed to stay in the same spot–a little higher and to the right of where the large spot is in your video. Only 3 of us reported seeing it at the time, and no one could definitively answer–at least before I stopped watching. If it had been the moon that we saw, wouldn’t it have stayed there rather than being a solid flash every 20-30 seconds repeatedly over 7-10 minutes? In your video, it stays the entire clip; did it remain the rest of the night? And wouldn’t it be visible every night? Does your camera cause a visible flash on OB2? I am just so curious about what we saw, what the video is, the whole thing! It’s a mystery! Love the owls and really appreciate your providing this for all of us. PS–I just noticed that someone else from SPO posted a related comment, but I’ll leave this anyway because I want you to be aware of the bright, round flashes EARLIER in the night.

  17. Deb Says:

Love to look at your pictures because I am unable to stay up at night and watch live. Thanks

  18. Mary Lockwood Says:

    I have a techno question.
Why is OB2 so dark for me? I can see what I call the “jungle gym” with no problems but forget about the owl box or seeing an owl on the ledge.
I missed Ashley coming out because I couldn’t see her.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Maannie
